Origins of the KHPC

by: Dave Schuessler
The origins of the KHPC is a long story.  Much like the Iliad or the Odyssey, (and suffice it to say about as convoluted), there is alot of oral tradition involved in the telling and retelling.  So if many of you other members don't remember it this way send in your editorial comments.

I'll begin with our logo "superyutz or knucklehead", both are one and the same.  In my High School days I did a lot of doodling in class, (thats why I'm where I am today), this is where I came up with this little character  I called Superyutz.  He's kind of my alter ego and keeper (since I quit drinking) of my insanity and creative thoughts.  Little did I know at the time that he would become the logo of the club.  The rest of his body has passed into oblivion and now his head, with the knuckles rapping at the back, is all that remains.

One day back in the mid 80's, Gary and I were sitting downtown at a bar that offered free Happy Hour parties for those who dropped their business card into a jar.  Well, we thought that would be great! But since both of us were blue collar types, we had no business with a card.  Gary, though, was a printer and between the both of us we came up with a card.  We both had good times with his cousins club, the AO Pleasure Club, and since he always called me a knucklehead the rest came natural.  The KnuckleHeads Pleasure Club was born.  We both added our phone numbers on the card in case some female types might want to become familiar with the members of the club (if you know what I mean), and yes we got the Happy Hour party, but no females.  After that we passed the cards out everywhere trying to drum up partying individuals for crazy times to be had.   Many bars were our home, The Horse You Came In On and The Old Philadelphia Inn, just to name two.  Through the years to the present we and our friends became the KHPC by constant commradery.  Bus trips to Orioles games, Stallion games, ski trips, etc..

Every year we went down to Ocean City a good time was had by all!  Thus the National Convention was born.  It started in 1988 with just a few of us.  Now it's a big time gathering at the Gateway Hotel on 49th street.  Every Labor Day weekend we could be found there doin whatever Knuckleheads do.  You could find us by our Banner hanging on the main room balcony.

Every Ravens home game is a party also.  Most of the members who have season tickets do their tailgating at the Poe's Crows site under the I-395 overpass.

The club will grow every year as long as the loyalty of it's members lives on!!!!!!!!!
